A bit of bad luck doesn’t spoil the satisfaction for Michela Cerruti at Monza

Michela Cerruti suffered from an unlucky break today in Race 2 at Monza, although the Italian female racer ended her season in the Italian GT Championship aware of the good job done. Driving a works BMW Z4 for the ROAL Motorsport team, she had to settle for seventh after being in frame to fight for the podium throughout the day. The issue came right after the pit-stops when Michela suffered from a front left puncture and was forced to go back to the pits again for an unscheduled tire change. Luckily the problem didn’t end up in a massive failure so Michela managed to complete the full distance. The weekend proved positive in terms of overall pace despite the long straights of Monza were not the ideal battleground for the Bavarian sportscar.

Let’s say it could have been a very good day, but we faced some bad luck. At the stop we saw that a tire was losing pressure and it eventually turned out to be a puncture. So we went from fighting for the podium to settling for seventh place, although I can consider myself satisfied in terms of the pace. The balance of the season is positive too. I cruised to a win and several great results so I can really be satisfied. Maybe we didn’t have the best car of the pack, but we improved many things in the process. The team worked perfectly and the Z4 proved to be a still competitive all-round performer. Only bad feelings, the fact that my team-mates lost the chances to battle for the title… I feel a little sad for them“.
