GT Italia – Vallelunga – Michela Cerruti experiences positive Qualifying at Vallelunga

Michela Cerruti enjoyed some good runs in today’s qualifying for the Italian GT Championship round at Vallelunga. In the penultimate race meeting of the 2013 season, the ROAL Motorsports female racer ended up with a fourth and a fifth spot in the qualification sessions for tomorrow’s two races.

In the first segment, Michela ended up just about 1 second off the pole, set by the Black Bull Ferrari, and 0.6 seconds away from the other ROAL-prepared BMW, triven by Stefano Colombo. In the second session, Cerruti, who was back to GT Competition this weekend after a test on a Formula 3 European Championship racecar at Hockenheim, rounded out the top five with a personal best lap of 1’35″455.

The results for today’s qualifying session has been puzzling. Last year I would have been really satisfied with a spot in Row 2 but, especially in the second session, I realized that we still have to improve something on the car. I hope we will get the right set-up solutions because tomorrow’s races will be very tough. Thanks to the good performance at Imola two weeks ago, which brought me the first win of the season, I will have a 25-second compensation handicap in Race 1 and it’s gonna be hard to even think about something more than 4th place. I hope to reduce this handicap for Race 2 but I know it will be a defense race for me. Finding a good set-up will be key for limiting the damage although we showed a good pace since practice”.
