Michela Cerruti ended up with a positive fourth place finish at Monza in Race 1 of the 2013 Italian GT Championship finale. The Milan-based female racer, who faced a tough qualifying session that forced her to take-off from the sixth row, put together an awesome comeback as she moved up to fourth on a racetrack which is known to be tough for the BMW Z4 racecars. In addition to that, she came really close to a potential podium finish for the ROAL Motorsport stable. She gained positions all-day long both on-track and in the pits. After scoring valuable points, Michela is looking forward to Race 2. With a chance of rain, the gap in terms of top speed might be closing a little…

“Monza is Monza, we only race on time per year here and when we get here we’re aware that we have a price to pay. On the straights we have less top speed compared to the other cars and while we always hope to see the situation change, we always suffer. After a tough qualifying session which brought me to start from 12th place, I recovered up to the 4th place as I started pushing early and set a quick pace. Between on-track passes and time handicaps I was able to make up several positions and finished not too far away from third. I’m pretty satisfied with today’s result and tomorrow rain might be coming… that would reduce the speed gap towards the front“.
