In Euro Megane Trophy – Cerruti scores good points at Moscow debut

Michela Cerruti rounded out a very positive debut in the Megane Trophy. The 26-year-old Italian female racer added a new experience to her resume which also includes, for 2013, the FIA Formula 3 European, the Italian GT Championship and the Blancpain Endurance Series. Running for the first time at Moscow Raceway, she had less time than her rivals to adapt to the track as she shared her car with Marguerite Laffite.

Despite the lack of practice, she managed to log the 8th fastest lap of qualifying two, beating her car-mate by 0.3 seconds. Unfortunately, at the start she stalled the car as she was at her first attempt with the Megane starting system, and eventually got reshuffled at the back of the pack.

Michela, a renowned fighter, showed all her determination and recovered well with some top moves. During a safety-car condition, she took advantage from the neutralization to make the mandatory pit, before picking up from where she left off and her well-executed pass on Forne ignited the warm Moscow crowd. Michela will be back on-track at Le Castellet for next week’s round of the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Michela Cerruti “I’m satisfied with my debut in the Megane Trophy and I want to thank Oregon Team for having given me this opportunity. I knew that the start would have been my weak point as I didn’t know this car, and I lost a lot of spots at the start. With the safety-car we planned a good strategy and then I engaged in several battles that enabled me to score this valuable 8th place finish.
