Michela Cerruti joins BMW program for 2015 VLN, Nürburgring 24 Hours

Michela Cerruti is proud to announce her entry in the 2015 VLN Endurance Championship and in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. For her new racing endeavour, the Italian female racer joined forces once again with BMW Motorsport and will be lining-up with Walkenhorst Motorsport. In the first round of the VLN series, which runs at the Nürburgring on a layout also including the famed Nordschleife, Michela will be partnered by John Edwards, a BMW USA manufacturer driver running in the USCC series, and by young German Filipe Laser.

Michela will be back behind the wheel of a BMW Z4 GT3, a car that brought her plenty of success over the years including two wins in the Italian GT Championship. The livery is also set to be unique. Designed by artist Jean Pierre Kreamer for the team’s tire supplier and sponsor Dunlop, the Walkenhorst-prepared BMW will glow in the dark thanks to a special fluorescent grey coating.

More races could be added to Michela’s BMW program at a later date. The main goal, at the moment, is the next 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

“I am delighted to line-up for this new challenge. The Nordschleife is tough, but it is also the world’s most incredible racetrack and taking part in the 24-hour race there is a dream come true for me. I know how strong and experienced Edwards and Laser are, and being able to rely on their experience race after race will be key. In terms of my career, this season will mark an important step towards professionalism and I am proud to join the BMW Motorsport program. I really want to thank them for this opportunity”.
