Michela Cerruti scores another Auto GP podium finish at Zeltweg

Michela Cerruti continued in her streak of podium finishes as she scored third place at Zeltweg, in the sixth round of the 2014 Auto GP series. After taking third place ad Monza and scoring an outstanding win at Imola, Michela did it all again in Austria despite she suffered from seriously bad luck along the way. In practice and qualifying, Michela had rounded out the top-5, but her run in Race 1 was stopped abruptly right after the start when she was sent spinning by Giuseppe Cipriani.

In Race 2, Michela had to start from the back, and after narrowly avoiding the car of Cipriani that crashed into the barriers, she slowly worked her way through the order gaining several spot also thanks to a good strategy. In the closing stages, she then took advantage of Kimiya Sato’s retirement to celebrate on the podium again.

Michela Cerruti
I’ve always liked Zeltweg, but honestly after Race 1 I didn’t think a podium finish was possible. I thank Super Nova for giving me a good car this weekend, and I’m extremely happy to have brought home my third trophy in Auto GP after the two grabbed in Italy. Unfortunately, I scored zero points in Race 1 so I couldn’t make any progress in standings, but I hope things will turn out for the better at the Nurburgring. Last year I made my Auto GP debut there and ended up with points so I hope for a smooth run. Now I’ll be moving to Spa-Francorchamps, wher I’ll be running in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps with a BMW Z4“.
