It’s been an exciting debut for Michela Cerruti at the Nürburgring in the 6-hour qualification race for the famed 24H-Rennen. The Italian female racer fought hard on-track ending up in 6th place overall and 4th in class with the Walkenhorst Racing BMW Z4 GT3, matching the pace of the frontrunners and laying good foundations for the main event of 2015, scheduled between the next 16th and 17th of May. At the end of the day, there were many reason to be satisfied starting from the overall pace to guaranteed spot on the grid for the 24-hour event, and to the right of installing the much-desired “blue lights” which mark the front-running cars and can ease the way through the lapped traffic during the long nights stints on the 25-kilometer track.

“It’s been a fantastic weekend. We put a lot of laps under our belt and also captured a great result as we ended up 6th overall, 4th in class and we finished really close to the Team Schubert BMW despite an additional stop due to a loss of tire pressure. We were awarded an automatic entry for the 24-hour race, and also the right to install the blue lights, which will provide us with a good advantage in the dark on the Nordschleife. The team did a phenomenal job, and the results matched the effort both in qualifying and during the race. Honestly, I didn’t expect to end up among the frontrunners straight away, also in terms of pace and laptimes. I really want to thank Walkenhorst Motorsport, BMW for the great support provided, and my team-mates who were great throughout the weekend. I can’t wait to be back on-track!”
