Michela Cerruti takes Pro-Am podium in 2013 Blancpain GT finale at the Nurburgring

It’s been another day to remember for Michela Cerruti today at the Nurburgring. The Milan-based female racer, lining-up for the final round of the 2013 GT Blancpain Series, recovered together with her team-mate Stefano Comandini from the 34th spot on the grid. Eventually, the ROAL Motorsport duo managed to end up in a stunning 12th place overall, 2nd in the Pro-Am category. For Michela, it was another glorious moment adding up to the win taken earlier this month in the Italian GT Series at Imola.

For the first time in the series, a team made only of Bronze-rated drivers made it to the Pro-Am podium, and being just two drivers with a 6-hour race added another reward for Roberto Ravaglia and his team. For Michela it’s now time to switch focus back to open-wheel competition, as she prepares for the Auto GP season finale on the 5th and 6th of September at Brno, Czech Republic.

It’s a feeling you can’t describe – said Michela – we always had so many troubles this season that we really did not expect this kind of result. We had to keep a very high pace to keep the tails of the frontrunners, but at the same time we had to save fuel in order to make it with just four stops. In the end we got a 12th place finish overall, 2nd in the Pro-Am category, this was the absolute maximum result we could achieve. Caching the SMP Ferrari would have probably turned out an impossible task even with a better starting position”.

A great thank you goes to the team, the engineer and Roberto Ravaglia for having trusted me and Stefano for this long 6-hour race. We’re happy to have rewarded that trust with a great finish. Also thanks to Stefano, one of the best team-mates you can ever have. In addition to the driving skills, he’s a great person, always eager to help out. He’s honestly happy when you go quick, even when you’re quicker than him, and genuinely sad when things don’t go your way“.
