Michela Cerruti to make Auto GP debut with MLR71

Michela Cerruti is ready to face a brand-new racing challenge. The 26-year-old female racer, currently taking part in the Italian GT Championship, in the Blancpain Endurance Series, and in the FIA European Formula 3 championship, will be making her Auto GP debut at the Nurburgring on the next 18th of August.

Michela, who only raced open-wheelers in Formula 3 after test-driving a GP3 Series car, will be campaigning a 550-horsepower Auto GP racer after finding an agreement with MLR71. Michela  already entered a 2-day test with the Italian squad, owned by Michele La Rosa. After the positive experience and some good results, a partnership for the final part of the season has been a natural consequence. Michela will be the only female driver of the series and the first Italian.

“I’m happy to have reached an agreement with Auto GP and MLR71 to enter the closing stint of the 2013 season. I drove this car for a test at Vallelunga, coached by Giacomo Ricci, and it was a great feeling for me. Having 550 horsepower behind your back is one exciting and impressing experience. It’s the most powerful open-wheel car I have ever driven.

“The jump from the old GP3 and Formula 3 is considerable, but I’m sure I will be able to adapt in time and compete at my full potential. Due to the date conflict, I won’t be able to enter the next round of Formula 3, but this is a great chance and an offer I could not turn down”.
