Michela Cerruti scores 7th and 6th
place in qualifying at Mugello

Michela Cerruti ended up with a 7th and a 6th place on Saturday as qualifying for the third round of the 2013 Italian GT Championship unfolded at Mugello. Her day started with a bad surprise, as due to a delay in her car’s preparation and a mechanical failure on the ROAL Motorsport’s team transporter, the Italian female racer was forced to skip the first practice, getting behind the wheel of her BMW Z4 only in practice 2.

The works squad of the Bavarian manufacturer then faced some unexpected performance troubles compared to the races held in Tuscany last season, on a racetrack which was supposed to be well-suited for the Z4. Michela kept fighting though, scoring third and fourth row positions for tomorrow’s races. The team is now working hard to prepare for Race Day. The first run will be taking-off tomorrow at 11:30 AM, followed at 17:20 PM by Race 2.

“I’m a little bit disappointed – explained Michela – because we’re struggling more than expected on a racetrack where we did great in the past. In the first qualifying session I had a tough time in finding the right confidence with the car while the second one – held after making some set-up changes – went much better. I could have been even quicker without having to deal with some slower traffic before my last attempt.

“In terms of general performance, the team’s second car also suffered from a big gap from the pole as well as from the 2012 times. We are struggling in acceleration and even in mid corner speed, where we used to have a slight advantage, the others managed to get closer and closer. Now we’re working to solve the issues before the races, and we’re gonna give 100% to score good results tomorrow”.
